Welcome to the Cyclocruze website and if you've been here before, Welcome back. This year sees the 25th Lord Nelson Charity cycle Ride. We're making it a special one, with some surprises.
Cyclobooze 25th Anniversary ReunionWe invite all previous Cyclobooze/Cyclocruze riders and friends to a Cyclobooze Reunion. On Thursday 13th March 2008, at 8pm, get yourselves down to The Lord Nelson Pub in Hythe, for some drinks and conversation, to exchange of stories and general celebration of the ride making it's 25th year. It will be good to see you, so please spread the word.Wear your Old Cyclobooze/Cyclocruze T-Shirt! PresentationLast year we raised money for the Jubilee Sailing trust and the Joshua Edwards Trust Fund.The Presentation night was on 11th October in the Lord Nelson. We raised £4000 between the two causes. Cyclocruze 2008This year the 2008 Cyclocruze will be held on the first full weekend of July namely 5th and 6th July.So book the time off now. You will be able to drop off your overnight bags, sleeping bags and tents at the support van on the evening of Friday 4th until 21:00hrs. The support van will carry this baggage to St Helens Village hall first thing the next day. Your T-shirt can by collected either on the Friday night or when you arrive on the Saturday morning. On Saturday 5th July we will meet out the back of the Nelson for a role call at 7am, before walking the pier to get our ferry. We also hope to repeat the now regular mini-cruise for loved ones (or family) to come accross with the ferry on the Sunday to pick us all up. Why the Name Change? - An Explanation...For over 22 years the Lord Nelson has called their Annual Charity Cycle ride the "Cyclobooze". The organising Committee has this year agreed to change the name of the Charity fund raising event to "The Lord Nelson Cyclocruze". This change has come about as a result of several organisations refusing to support the Fundraising event due to the percepted affiliation of "Cycling & Boozing in tandem". The organising committee has agreed that a change is necessary to allow the fundraising event to continue as a viable facility for future generations of Cyclists to support and enjoy for many more years. |
